I would like to say Howdy to you all. Iti is a pleasure to be part of this forum. My name is Steve Metz. I have been making guitars since 1992. Over the years I have made over 200 guitars. My work is inspired by Paul Bigsby and Semi Mosley. I have made instruments for Billy Gibbons, Poison Ivy of The Cramps, Andy Gill of The Gang of Four and others. In the past I have made mostly electric guitars but have made about 20 jumbo style guitars. I took a few years off from making instruments but I am starting up the shop again due to customer demand. The name of my company was Scientifico Musico Technographique and an example of my work can be seen in Billy Gibbons new book Rock and Roll Gearhead on page 162. My other interests are racing vintage motocross and enduro bikes as well as Italian cars. Looking forward to contributing to the knowlegde base of this forum. We are all very lucky to have such a group. I wished there was a forum like this when I started. Thanks Steve Metz |

I believe that we are all building on the hard work of others. I did get a lot of inspiration from the Italian cars of the 1950's. These artists made great one off cars using Fiat, Alfa,Lancia and Ferrari frames and motors. Some times these designs worked and sometimes they did not, but they always kept on trying. I am also inspired by the great works of art that I saw when I worked at the National Gallery of Art in DC. |

Steve, Welcome on board...I dont know about Italian cars but do know about the National Gallery of Art...when did you work there and what did you do?...My wife has been a copyist at the National Gallery for about 10 years now specializing in the Dutch Renaissance although she has done an occasional Constable, Romney or Monet (for commissions). For those who visit Washington, DC the National Gallery is just one of the great museums that are part of the Smithsonian and are free to the public. The National Gallery is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to spend time. |

I used to work in exhibitions with Andrew Kreiger. I helped design and set up the exhibits. I also designed packing cases and crates for the artwork I quit in 2000 due to budget cuts. ( I don't work for nothing). |
